Delete your Weekend account
The quickest way: in the Weekend app, open Profile → Settings → Delete account and confirm. Your account and data are deleted straight away, and you are signed out.
If you can no longer use the app
If you have uninstalled Weekend, lost your phone or cannot sign in, email vineethgopa@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my account”, and include:
- the phone number you signed up with, and
- your Weekend username, if you remember it.
To make sure nobody deletes an account that is not theirs, we may send a one-time code to that phone number and ask you to reply with it. We delete the account within 7 days of confirming it is yours, and email you when it is done.
What is deleted
- Your profile: name, username, photo, date of birth, gender, bio, interests and Instagram handle.
- Your sign-in. (Your phone number is kept for 180 days, locked away — see below.)
- Your swipes, votes, time answers and saved plans.
- Your membership of every circle. Circles left with nobody in them are deleted with their plans and chat.
- Tag Along posts you host, and your requests to join others.
- Hangouts and events you host.
- Your verification record, and any selfie or photo still waiting for review.
- The people you have blocked.
What is kept, and for how long
- Messages you sent stay in the chats they are part of, so the conversation still makes sense to the others in it. They are no longer linked to a profile.
- Photos you added of a place stay on that place’s listing, credited to the username you had, unless you ask us to remove them at the email above.
- Reports you made or that were made about you, and records of action we took, are kept for as long as needed for safety and legal reasons.
- Your phone number, name, username and the dates you joined and left are kept for 180 days, as India’s IT Rules 2021 require, only to answer a lawful request. Then they are deleted automatically.
- Copies in backups are overwritten within 30 days.
