Privacy Policy
The short version. We collect what Weekend needs to plan outings with your circles and to keep members safe — your phone number, a basic profile, your approximate location, and what you do in the app. Your phone number, date of birth and exact location are never shown to other members. We do not sell your data or show you ads. You can see, correct and delete your data, and delete your whole account in Settings.
1. Who is responsible
Weekend is operated by OddLogic Digital (Udyam registration UDYAM-KL-12-0150942), CLRA 39B, Nandanam, Cheppil Lane, Mancaud, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala 695009, which is the Data Fiduciary for your personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Questions about this policy or your data: vineethgopa@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
| What | When |
|---|---|
| Phone number | When you sign in. Used to verify you with a one-time SMS code. |
| Profile: name, username, date of birth, gender, photo, bio, Instagram handle, interests | When you set up or edit your profile. Date of birth and gender are set once. |
| Location: your home area, and your current location if you allow it | During setup, and while the app is open if you give permission. Never in the background. |
| When you are usually free | If you add it to your profile. |
| Activity in Weekend: swipes, votes, circles you belong to, plans, bookings you record, events and hangouts you host, Tag Along posts and requests | As you use the app. |
| Messages and photos you send in chats, and photos you add of venues | When you send them. |
| Safety records: people you block, reports you make or that are made about you | When you or someone else uses these tools. |
| Verification selfie: a photo of you copying a pose | Only if you choose to get verified. Seen only by our team, compared with your profile photo, and deleted as soon as it has been reviewed. We keep only whether you are verified and when. We do not create or store a face template. |
| Device information: a notification token, and an app-integrity token | To send you notifications, and to confirm requests come from the genuine app. |
We do not collect your contacts, your precise location in the background, or payment card details. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
3. Why we use it
- To run Weekend: show you things to do near you, share your interest with your circles, work out plans and times that suit everyone, and run chats and Tag Along.
- To keep members safe: verify that members are the people in their photos (required for Tag Along and public events), enforce the 18+ age limit, age- and gender-limited Tag Along outings, blocks and reports, and to investigate and act on abuse. Posts, messages, profiles and event details are checked automatically for abusive or sexual wording, and posts and profiles for phone numbers and other contact details. A message that fails is replaced with a notice and passed to our team with its original text.
- To notify you about plans, requests and messages, according to your notification settings.
- To prevent fraud and misuse, such as automated abuse of the service.
- To meet legal obligations, and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
We process your data on the basis of the consent you give when you create your account — we record which version of our notice you agreed to, and when — and when you grant permissions, and for the legitimate uses the law allows. You can withdraw consent at any time (see section 8); doing so may mean you can no longer use some or all of Weekend.
4. Who can see what
| Who | What they see |
|---|---|
| Any Weekend member | Your name, username, photo, bio, interests, Instagram handle, city and whether you are verified. |
| Your circles | Your votes and time answers on their plans, and your messages in their chat. |
| A Tag Along host you ask to join | Your age (not your date of birth), gender, and the message you send. |
| Weekend’s team | What is needed to run and moderate the service, including reported messages. |
| Nobody else | Your phone number, date of birth and exact location are never shown to other members. |
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Google (Firebase and Google Cloud), which hosts Weekend’s database, files and backend, sends sign-in SMS codes and notifications, and checks app integrity; and Google Maps Platform, which shows maps and, when you search for a venue, receives what you type and the area you are searching in. Google processes this data on our behalf under its data-processing terms.
- Authorities, where Indian law requires it, or where it is needed to protect someone’s safety.
6. Where it is stored
Weekend’s database and files are stored with Google Cloud in Mumbai, India. Some Google services used by Weekend may process data outside India, as the law permits.
7. How long we keep it
- We keep your data while your account exists.
- When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photo, swipes, Tag Along posts and requests, hangouts and events you host, your circle memberships and your sign-in. Messages you sent stay in the conversations they are part of, without your profile. Photos you contributed to a venue’s listing stay there, credited to your username, unless you ask us to remove them.
- For 180 days after you delete your account we keep your phone number, name, username and the dates you joined and left, as the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 require. Nobody at Weekend uses it; it exists only to answer a lawful request. After 180 days it is deleted automatically.
- Reports and records of enforcement are kept for as long as needed for safety and legal reasons, even after an account is deleted.
- Deleted data may remain in backups for a limited period before being overwritten.
8. Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can:
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is used.
- Correct or update it — most of it directly in Edit profile.
- Erase it — delete your account in Settings → Delete account, or, if you cannot use the app, ask us to delete it.
- Withdraw consent — turn off permissions in your phone’s settings, or delete your account.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become unable to.
- Complain to our Grievance Officer (below), and if you are not satisfied, to the Data Protection Board of India.
For anything you cannot do in the app, email vineethgopa@gmail.com. We may need to confirm it is you before acting.
9. Permissions on your phone
- Location — to show what is near you. Optional: you can choose your city instead.
- Camera — to scan a circle’s invite code, take photos, and take your verification selfie. Only when you use those features.
- Photos — to choose a profile picture or a venue photo. Only the photos you pick.
- Notifications — optional, and adjustable per type in Settings.
10. Children
Weekend is for people 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it. If you believe a child is using Weekend, contact the Grievance Officer.
11. Security
Your data is protected in transit and at rest, access to it is restricted by security rules to the people who need it, and sensitive actions are carried out only by our servers. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting you occurs, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
12. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
